Mandatory Sustainability Reporting in Türkiye: Early Adoption and Its Impact on Corporate Transformation

At the 7th Symposium on Circular Economy and Sustainability in Maastricht, our Founding Partner and Sustainability Consultant Gözde Sağlam had the opportunity to present her study, “Mandatory Sustainability Reporting in Türkiye: Early Adoption and Its Impact on Corporate Transformation.”

In recent weeks, we joined academics, researchers, and business leaders from different countries at the 7th Symposium on Circular Economy and Sustainability in Maastricht.

Organized by Zuyd University of Applied Sciences – Research Centre for Sustainable International Business, the University of Crete, and Harokopio University of Athens, the symposium provided an international platform where academic research and practical experience in circular economy and sustainability came together.

At the event, which we supported as ESG Project Management, our Founding Partner and Sustainability Consultant Gözde Sağlam had the opportunity to present her study, “Mandatory Sustainability Reporting in Türkiye: Early Adoption and Its Impact on Corporate Transformation.”

In her study, she examined TSRS disclosures from the first year of mandatory sustainability reporting in Türkiye and focused on how companies address climate and sustainability issues.

The research highlighted:

  • the distribution of climate narratives across sectors,
  • the visibility of climate-related risks and opportunities in reporting,
  • signals of transformation in governance and strategic decision-making processes,
  • the sectoral concentration of climate capital and financial investments for sustainability transition.

The presentation explored in particular how mandatory sustainability reporting has already begun to change the way companies talk about climate. The key question is whether it will also change how capital is allocated.

If you would like to learn more about the methodology and findings of our study or assess the results in the context of your organization and sector, please contact us. We would be pleased to share the details and key outcomes of our research.

We thank the entire organizing team, the academic partners, and the supporters who contributed to this valuable event.
